About the Position

  • Responsible for issuing patient bills in a prompt and efficient manner in accordance with external and internal requirements for all payers, all bill types and claims for state reporting.
  • Responsible for proper preparation including applying discounts, electronic entry and billing of procedure charges, and auditing of claims to ensure that claims are processed and paid in accordance with regulated rates, current contracts, and facility policies and procedures.
  • Billing responsibilities will include Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care and commercial claims.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years hospital billing experience.
  • Knowledge of spine, orthopedics, surgical and other elective procedures.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong communication skills preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work both in a team environment and independently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Two years’ medical insurance billing and collections from insurance companies, third-party payers and Medicare/Medicaid experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Meditech and Epremis/Relay Health software strongly preferred.
